Overview

This project presented a challenging and thought-provoking opportunity that allowed the creative team at Martins to think further than just design; this was a sensory brief. Although the team are well versed in Augmented and Virtual Reality, these technologies fell short from a logistical and disability perspective.

Using industrial design and sculpture that incorporates Braille as well as the written word, Martins brought the walking trail to life for all. The sensory journey is now a popular route amongst those who are visually impaired, as well as the wider community who are equally inspired by the art pieces that Martins created. The disability community has praised the result of the project.

Creating a sensory experience for the sensory-impaired.

How can we create a picture of nature for those who cannot see? The Botanic Gardens of South Australia wanted everyone to enjoy their beautiful gardens, and that included the visually impaired.
